DofE Summer Camping Guidelines

Duke of Edinburgh Camping Guidelines: March — October
Getting to and leaving Westermill Farm Camping

Whatever your route map…

  • On Westermill Farm ground CLOSE all the gates that you go through and by “closed” we mean “latched shut” so that it cannot simply be “pushed open”
  • IF you are uncertain as to whether you are on Westermill Farm — CLOSE the gate anyway
  • NEVER leave a gate open because another group is “right behind you”
  • IF you are unable to “close” a gate, in the above manner, note its location (a photograph of the gate and its environs will help) and report it to Westermill Farm or your supervisor as soon as possible
Where to camp on Westermill Farm
    • Students or Participants: Camping ONLY in the Fourth Field — see Summer Campsite

    • Supervisors, assessors or suport staff: Camping in ANY campsite field — see Summer Campsite

Where to park on Westermill Farm
  • Mini-buses should be parked in the area on the left as you drive into Fourth Field — see Summer Campsite

  • Mini-buses should not be driven on the fields

  • “Regular” 5 or 6 passenger motor vehicles may be parked on the fields

Loo Blocks
    • DofE supervisors and support staff may use the First Field Hot Water Shower and Loo Block — see Summer Campsite

    • DofE students and participants to ONLY use the Third Field Loo Block
    • DofE supervisors to check Third Field Loo Block on departure

    • In effect — the Third Field Loo Block is to be managed by DofE supervisors, individually or co-operatively with other groups’ supervisors
