IF you are driving to or from Westermill Farm Holidays we — strongly recommend — that you avoid Muddicombe Lane — regardless of whatever your GPS / Sat Nav may say!
Just so you know … Wellshead Lane, coming our way from the coast across the moor leads to a quite tight right hairpin turn to get into Westermill.
The most straightforward and least challenging way to drive to Westermill Farm is to head West from Exford on Edgcott Road — see map:
Just so you know the “rest of the story” …
Muddicombe Lane is steep, twisty, flanked by banked hedges on both sides and narrow, as in — “one car wide” narrow — think about: “…having to reverse uphill, or even downhill, around blind corners for 50 or more yards should it become necessary”[!] … and, even then, almost inevitably … Muddicombe Lane leads to a bridge which is 6 feet 6 inches wide and has been aptly named “Silly Bridge” on Ordnance Survey Maps.
And yet … GPS / Sat Nav insists on sending “everything” Muddicombe’s way … Emergency Service vehicles included!?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
PS. “The Tunnel” is not actually a “tunnel” on the roadway in the map above … it is that part of the road where the overarching branches from trees on either side “join up” in the middle — ‘Hence …”
